At work I used to have two monitors in portrait mode. Most nice wallpapers aren't meant for portrait orientation so I created this image. I used The Gnu Image Manipulation Program. I really like the color of the sky at dawn (or dusk) when it is just starting to fade from black to bright so I tried to recreate it with a gradient. Then I used the path tool to create some mountains on the skyline and layered them to try to create some perspective. A few white points look a bit like stars. I think it makes for a fairly peaceful looking background.
